The Right Automatic Door for Your Building

AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS

Smooth, accessible access where space allows

Automatic sliding doors are an effective solution where space is available for the door leaves to slide away to the sides. They are particularly suited to entrances that experience regular or high levels of pedestrian traffic.

Automatic sliding doors can be designed as single sliding doors, double or bi-parting doors, or telescopic systems which allow a wider doorway where space is restricted.

Choose from a range of door materials, glazing options, finishes and activation methods to complement the building and its usage requirements.

✓ Single, bi-parting or telescopic options

✓ Wide choice of finishes and glazing

✓ Suitable for high traffic environments

✓ Ideal for retail, healthcare and schools

✓ Designed around your available space

AUTOMATIC SWING DOORS

Automatic opening for new or existing hinged doors

Automatic swing doors provide a practical and economical alternative where a sliding door isn't suitable or where an existing hinged swing door can be adapted.

An automatic swing door operator can often be fitted to a suitable existing manual door, providing automatic opening and closing without necessarily replacing the existing door leaf.

Automatic swing doors can be specified for different levels of use, including low-energy and assisted operation through to higher-performance applications and are suitable for internal and external use.

✓ Suitable for new or existing doors

✓ Single or double swing doors

✓ Inward or outward opening

✓ Compatible with a range of door materials

✓ Wide choice of activation options

Telescopic sliding door.png

AUTOMATIC TELESCOPIC DOORS

Maximum opening width where space is limited

Where an extra wide entrance is required, or where space is tight and a conventional sliding door configuration cannot provide the required opening, an automatic telescopic door can provide an alternative.

Telescopic doors use multiple door leaves that slide compactly behind one another, allowing a wider clear opening to be achieved within a smaller area alongside the entrance.

This characteristic makes telescopic automatic sliding doors ideal for buildings that experience regular, high volumes of pedestrian traffic and ease of access is important.

✓ Ideal for restricted spaces

✓ Achieve wider, clear opening widths

✓ Smooth and reliable operation

✓ Suitable for high traffic environments

✓ A range of finishes and glazing options

AUTOMATIC DOOR DESIGN & SPECIFICATION

Automatic door installation process

Automatic doors are not a one-size-fits-all product.

We assess how the door will be used, the typical type and levels of pedestrian traffic and what the access point needs to achieve, then consider the most appropriate sliding, swing or telescopic configuration, available space, approach to the door and required opening width.

We also take into account the existing or proposed door construction, including suitable materials and glazing, together with the most appropriate activation method, such as sensors, push pads, access control or touch-free activation.

Safety is an important part of the installation, with the relevant requirements of BS EN 16005 considered when selecting the most appropriate automatic door system. Once the specification has been agreed, our engineers carry out the professional installation and commissioning of the automatic door system.

AUTOMATIC ACCESS

Activation options

The way an automatic door is activated is an important part of the entrance design.

Depending on the requirements of the building, options can include:

  • Automatic sensors – detecting approaching pedestrians and activating the door.

  • Push pads – providing intentional activation where required.

  • Access control – allowing automatic operation to be integrated with controlled access systems.

  • Touch-free activation – providing contactless activation using a hand movement.

We can help determine which activation method is appropriate for the building, the users and the way the entrance will be used.

ACCESSIBLE BUILDING DESIGN

Making buildings accessible for all

Heavy or manually operated doors can create a significant barrier to entering and moving freely through a building. Automatic doors provide a convenient way of improving access.

The appropriate automatic door solution can help make doors easier to use for people with different mobility requirements, while also providing convenient access for staff, customers, visitors and other building users.

When designing an accessible automatic door factors such as the approach, clear opening width, door operation, activation method, pedestrian flow and surrounding environment should all be considered.

We can advise on suitable automatic door solutions with accessibility requirements and the individual building in mind.

SAFETY & STANDARDS

Designed and installed with safety in mind

South East Door Services works with ADSA-accredited engineers and considers the relevant standards when designing, installing and maintaining automatic doors.

Our approach is to consider the complete automatic door system rather than simply supplying an operator, helping ensure the automatic door is appropriately specified for its intended use and conforms to the relevant standards and safety requirements of BS EN 16005. The installation will also incorporate appropriate safety devices and protection measures.
